The short version: collect only what helps the site work and improve

Bark and Baste is built to function with a minimal-core launch profile. Optional providers may be added later, but the site should still explain what data it collects and why.

First-party events

The site may record lightweight page-view and affiliate-click events so operators can understand what readers actually use and where commerce links need improvement.

Optional analytics

GA4, Clarity, or Plausible may be added later. If those providers are enabled, they may collect browser and visit data according to their own policies.

Newsletter and forms

If newsletter capture or contact forms are enabled, the site may store email addresses, signup context, or campaign history so operators can manage communications responsibly.

No-surprise posture

The goal is not to create a hidden surveillance layer. The site should degrade gracefully when optional providers are absent, and public pages should still work without them.

Your choices

You can choose not to subscribe to newsletters or marketing updates.

You can contact the site to ask about stored contact or moderation information tied to submissions.

As the provider stack evolves, this page should evolve with it instead of quietly drifting out of date.
